Hello Everybody!

New guy here.
I am finally starting my dream layout.[:)]
I have been collecting HO stuff for years and have resently purchased a new home that has an 11x22 "train room" for me.
I have been reading and enjoying these forums for a while and decided to join and say Hello to eveyone.
One question for now..... I have marked the scenery topic to watch...How do I jump to this topic to continue reading where I left off? (It is a large thread about 6 pages back)
Thanks much
George

Great to have you onboard!

I don't know how the topic "marker" works. I do it the hard way. I go up and click on the word "Advanced" on the top right of the page. There, I type in the "Key Word" box and do my searches. Often hit or miss, but far more hits than misses.

Can you tell us what your railroad plans are? Time period, scenery, type of theme (coal hauling, bridge route, etc.)

Looking forward to your posts!

It will be a free-lance modern era.
My collection includes Chessie Conrail and Amtrak.
There will be a coal mine a couple cities with a couple large industries.
It is a walk in around the wall with 2 peninsulas for continuous
running.
Right now I'm building the bench work.
Thanks

Hello George, and welcome to trains.com.

Glad to hear your dream layout is going to happen for you.

As for jumping back and forth to the various topics, I don't know if there is an easy way...

Sorry I'm not much help.

Hi. You cuold try making it one of your 'favourites', you know, 'bookmarking' that page. Find it and bring it up on your webpage, and then click on the favorites tab on your header above the page. Put your cursor over to 'Add' on the left column, and you're marked.

[#welcome] Remember we are all learning and the curves are steep but don't let that stop you from asking any question no matter how small or trivial. Chances are one of us have cleared that hurdle before and even done a face plant as a result.

Hello to you too and hope you enjoy your experiences around here .......

I've tried the bookmarking method but found that I must keep changing it. The bookmark sets up at a certain date - let's say today - so that in a week or so, you keep getting today's date. Whether that's an issue peculiar to my setup or something everyone experiences, I can't say.

For my [2c] worth, there doesn't seem to be an easy way ......

See ya! [tup][;)]

Thanks for responding
It looks like the best method would be the search feature
Even though it will be awhile before I get to scenery I still like to read up on ideas and methods
Thanks

Hi George!
We're almost neighbors- I live south of you a bit. Therre are a couple real expert modelers in Erie, you'll be in good company!
What I've done with the best topics (Like just about anything Mr. Fugate posts!) is to open up a Microsoft Word document, then copy and paste the information into it. Everytime he updates it or adds more info, it comes back to the first page of topics. You can check out the new posts, and add more ifo to the Word document if you want. Then just save the Word doc and print it out whenever you want.
Good Luck!
