DCC Programing Question
Posted by mike33469 on Saturday, April 30, 2005 6:30 PM
Today I installed a Lenz 1024 decoder in my Bachmann 2-8-0 [Spectrum], When I finished it ran backwards. I changed the CV-29 value and it now runs forward in forward and backwards in reverse. The headlight however does not come on, I've tried the 0 function on my Lenz 100 throttle, nothing. BTW the headlight did work with an older Lenz 1014 decoder. The Lenz book says the headlight function can be set with CV-29 but thats the one I used to get the direction fixed. My set is a Lenz 100 and my speed step is 128. Any help?

Simple fix, your wires are backwards on the motor. Switch the wires from the decoder to the motor.

Did you remember to put a resistor in line between the decoder and the headlight?

The decoder is a plug n play, I did not have to do anything special with the 1014. I should be able to just plug it in and go. The only real programing that should be necessary is selecting the speed step and programing in an address.

Willist:

You plugged the decoder in backwards. Just turn the plug around inside the loco and everything should work fine. The standard 8-pin DCC plug is wired so that it won't harm anything to plug it in backwards ... except the loco will run backwards and the lights won't work right.

Easy fix.

Gee, and some people say DCC is too "difficult".
