Broadway Limited NW-2 Switcher????

I am considering buying one of these with DCC/Sound. Is anyone using this switcher, and what are your opinions on the engine??? Thanks.

I have a BLI switcher. The sound is good, considering the size of the unit, but I have been having terrible times with one of the trucks not moving freely and derailing on turnouts. It is in guage etc, but there seems to be something fouling the truck so it does not pivot freely. I am currently awaiting a response from BLI on a solution.

BLI just moved their office to Florida, so they have been hard to contact for the last few days.

Christox,

There has been a software glitch issue in a "certain" number of BLI SW7/NW2 switchers. Go to the BLI web site (http://www.broadway-limited.com) and read the "BLI News" on the right side of the page. (Hmmm. It looks like it's in their archives already.) Click on the "News Archives" at the bottom of the page. On the subsequent page, see link entitled:

"3/8/2005: NOTICE Regarding EMD Switchers NW2/SW7"

All the relevent info about the software glitch can be found at that link. Seems to be a fairy simple fix. Hope that's helpful for you...

I have been assisted by a kind forum member regarding a fix for running backwards on analog and also the derailing truck problem.

But when I shoved against 14 40' boxcars and part of the train actually went up a 3% for several feet to clear a yard track, that little switcher has a special place in my heart bugs and all.

I will have to dive back into my emails from long ago and seek out the two pictures with prodcedures for fixing the issues. It will take me some time.

Now if they ever make a "Calf" for it, I would get one.

I was just chatting to the "help" in a LHS, as one does [:)] and was told that several of the BLI switchers had been thru their store with wires caught in the shell causing one of the trucks to bind and not pivot correctly. I will pop the shell off when I get back from this business trip and see if I can fix the problem.

I have a BLI NW-2 switcher.... and have no problems with it. The small single speaker does a respectable job, and it is a smooth operating lokey. I would not "give it up" !

Have fun with your new stitcher.... Bob H.

Just a wee thought re direction problem.....just turn it around, eh? Geez guys, it's just a switcher! Even when I was a green car-whacker on SP about 100 years ago, before I went firing, they ran 'em both ways, it just didn't matter!
