I had no problem with my iMac before Atlas went silent with its forum. But now I can't get back on. Pity since i'm over halfway through with my Atlas layout no. 19.

Stan.

I joined the Atlas Forum this week with Norton Antivirus and Firewll on and they came back the next day with my approval.

Who knows what the exact combination is, but they are worth the time to approval.

Bob,
The fact that you received the e-mail stating your e-mail address and user ID are already in use confirms that Atlas received your first attempt to sign up. That's why it won't let you re-use your e-mail address and user ID.
If you don't hear anything back from them on Monday, you may want to contact them by telephone to get things going. (800-872-2521)
Good luck,
gtirr

Thanks to all for the advice - I appear to have been successful. Just waiting for my confirming e-mail to get in. It was the security settings on my Norton Antivirus, turned some off and could access the application form.

Now completing the form was another matter, I kept getting messages stating the ID had chosen was already in use, no problem there, but also that the e-mail address I entered was also already in use. MY e-mail address! Tried several different IDs, and e-mail addresses and finally got both to work. Wow, I've never seen such pickyness. You'd think I wanted to join the Secret Service or something!

Here's hoping I get the approval e-mail. Might have to wait until Monday I suspect.

Bob -

I just logged myself out of the Atlas forum and started the registration process - it accepted my "Accept" of the rules and went on to the "contact" information form (where you put in e-mail address, name, etc).

Seems to be working fine ... must be something blocking it in your computer.

Try deactivating the blocks and try again - it's worth it !!!

they tend to turn off the auto-join over the weekends. in the past, they've had several idiots (and i use the term losely) who were banned creating new accounts and distrupting the forums on the weekends. Since they only really monitor it durning the week, these people were able to pretty much destroy the atlas forums on weekends.

Wait till monday and you'llprobably get the email saying thanks for joining and what to do next.

Egads - No! No Mac or Netscrape, using an HP Pavillion with XP.

Just as I stated, clicked on Register, go through their disclaimers, what to do stuff, etc. Click on "Accept" and get back to the same screen, nothing else, no chance to enter a screen name, password, etc. Also as I mentioned I disabled the cookie blocking, still nothing.

I do have pop up blocking in effect in both my Norton Antivirus and Windows XP. Wonder if that could be it? I'll try again later.

The Atlas Forum shows that someone joined yesterday - so maybe you are forgetting to do somethng before you "Accept" ????

Or maybe the name you want is already taken ?????

I suspect maybe you are right and they have the feature disabled for the weekend. Try Monday.

Joining Atlas Forum?
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, April 24, 2005 9:36 AM
Is there some secret to get a user name on the Atlas forum? I just tried, and everytime I press "Accept" to join it comes back to the same page with their conditions. As it suggests, I have my Internet security set to medium re accepting cookies, and I changed it all the way to off, but still got the same return. Maybe they have the joining feature disabled on the weekend?
