hahah funny, same trailer type, same place, four trains, weird. Now if they had all been on simmilar looking fuel foilers that would have been cool. I like that slug in the second picture too.

Well, I looked real hard for something particularly interesting, 4 pix of 4 different reefer trailers from the same company, obviously same day, possably same train. CXS activities in the background... What am I missing? Dan

I heard CSX bought those locomotives RTR. I guess they're not real railroaders.

There is something funny looking about "ICEZ530083.jpg" by the way the trailer is setting on/in that one car.

I see nothing overly interesting or out of place. I see intermodels all the time at my local station. Even the one where the wheels of the trailer are down in the car.

Can't wait to see what the answer is.

I meant to say RoadRailers on intermodal flat cars, I mean that kind of defeats the purpose of RoadRailers, right?

There actually are wheels there. The flat car is more like a short boxed gondola. Compare the last pic with the others and you'll see the car is not a flatcar.

If you zoom in on the last pic and go all the way to the bottom right you'll see the wheels of the orange trailer which is in a similar car to the white trailer.

The trailers all have a picture of a polar bear along with the word 'express' - Polar Express [:o)]

Oh, well that! I spotted it first off, just didn't think it was interesting![:D]

Actually I didn't catch it, but the 5th wheel on the front of the trailer is an intermodal type. I still don't see the steel wheels. Could they have been removed, say for weight saving purposes?

I'll give it to ya, it takes a sharp eye to catch that. Dan

The steel wheels aren't permanently attached, they are part of a truck set up called a bogie that can be removed when the Trailer is used during highway travel. This is what made these RoadRailers better than the first ones.

Actually, Wabash National (manufacturer) calls them ReeferRailers (http://www.wabashnational.com/products/roadrailer/reefer_railer.htm). They are on spine cars and in a container car (not a gondola) because they were purchased for a service of shipping pershiables to the Midwest and East Coast using them as they are intended to be used, it did not work out so they are now used a regular reefer vans.

Metro: fuel foiler, you are showing your age. They are now called spine cars.

What was refered to as "like a short boxed gondola" is an all purpose container car, it looks like NSC.

Except for the last picture, the landing gear are all hanging off the side!

Actually, they are not. Those trailers are on spine cars (http://www.steelcar.com/spine.html) Notice how part of it is narrow, hence the name.
