My two roomates are both women and both are building the layout with me. Also, half of the ten or so people that operate on my line (maybe 4 at a time haha it's not that big) are women.

All of us are college students, and we're all humanities and fine arts students. My two roomates each have their favourite part of the hobby, one likes building and weathering rolling stock and the other likes painting figures, and all three of us work together on bigger projects like scratchbuilding larger structures.

I wasn't the only one who was a model railroader before college either, one of my roomates had grown up helping her dad build his Mexican NdeM layout. Haha, and now she's helping me model Cadada lol.

Your name isn't Jack Tripper, is it? Is your land lords name Mr. Roper? Sounds too much like "Threes Copmany" to me.[:o)]

I've operated with a few in my area. All are as good as anyone.

My wife loves building structures. I just can't get her to run any trains.

Mary Miller is not only a model railroader but I think she has her Master Model Railroader MMR designation from the NMRA. Her scratch built narrow gauge combine was featured in MR a few years ago and MRP had a picture of her hand laying track while curled up on the benchwork table top some years ago. I think her husband is also an MMR.
The late Doug Smith's wife Anita would write an article for MR now and then -- and not one of those goofy "what it's like to be married to a train nut" articles but real articles on building things like fences.

We have one woman in our model railroad club out of 50 members. Thanks to Brenda for the ballasting advice.

For name droppers I have met Rene Grosser who does many of the exquisite structures on Grosser's Nostalgia Trip and also admire the work Elizabeth Allen does on SP diesels.

Women model railroaders are few and far between, but they can get the job done!

Mary Miller is one of the best - male or female!

Lol you know I never watched Three's Company. My roomates act more like Laverne and Shirley, and I've been told I'm a lot like Hyde from "That 70's Show" haha.
