Another eBay score!
Posted by rrinker on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 10:14 PM
And my track record of not paying more than $60 for a quality locomotive remains intact.

Latest addition to the roster is a pair of Walthers FA-1's, decorated of course as Reading. $11.55 each! MR review in September 97 shows them as capable of starting and running at 0.6 miles per hour! Also picture with the shell off shows that it should be an easy matter to install a decoder. Needs handrails added, but I paid a lot more for my Stewart F-7's and they too need handrails installed.

You will be having problems with your guilt complex...would like to help as I know you wont sleep for weeks untill those FA-1s are crossing the mighty Mississippi and dead heading out to California, Take care...John

I myself scored big on ebay. For 20 years I've been looking for the Custom Brass GN
Y-1a motor and finally found one. It is now running under the catenary on my layout. Although I model the NYNH&H electric zone, I've always liked the GN's "sparkers" too.

Rick,

It must have been a bummer trying to log into ebay 20 years ago. No wonder you didn't get anywhere. [(-D] (I knew what you meant. [:P])

Boy, 20 years is a lonnnnnng to be in search for something particular. I'm glad you were finally able to find it. [:)]
