Posted by Amtrk14 on Saturday, April 16, 2005 8:22 AM
Does anyone know how much this locomotive is going to cost once it's available?

Thanks,
Sean

It'll be pricey. LGB's F7 is probably a good one to look at to get an idea of how much it'll be - the AMD103 will have twin motors, lights, etc and most of their similarly equipped locos cost much the same. If you got to www.lgb.de and click on the relevant links it'll take you to their US website which might be useful. Hope this helps!

Amtrk14 -- You might have better luck posting this question on the Garden Railways forum instead of here.

Based on the price of LGB's F7, as mentioned by Railroading_Brit, you can probably expect it to be over $300 U.S. from even the cheapest mail order sources -- possibly over $400 MSRP.

That'd be just over £200 at worst - how come it costs £300+ to get one here? surely freight to the USA has to be more than to here - we're only just across the channel from them...[:)]

I bet the 103 will have MTS decoder and an option without out it, as a "DCC ready" version for other decoders. I don't think the LGB F-7s were "pricey" considering they were a whopping 1:26, equipped to run in real snow and sit in the sun for days. The F-7s were discounted early on, too--you can still get some great deals on them. Yes, they may seem pricey if you are into HO but for large scale they are a bargain.
