And if you don;t want to deal with that, take your pick of the cork or Woodland Scenics foam. I prefer the foam. And use latex caulk as the adhesive, roadbed to benchwork and track to roadbed. Nothing is faster and easier. I'm STILL on my first tube - a little goes a long way. That same article talks about caulk as an adhesive. Easy to take up and change, too, if you make a boo-boo or change your mind halfway through.

Here is a link to a MRR article. It talks about using topper tape.

question about roadbed??
Posted by JeremyB on Saturday, April 9, 2005 4:31 PM
Hey guys

Im starting another layout next saturday ( I tore down my last one in Febuary ) Its from a plan I saw in the Model railroad planning 2003. I had a question about roadbed though whats the best to use? I have seen the choices between the woodland scenics foam and cork, are there any other choices to use? maybe something a little less expensive. also what would be the best adhesive to glue the track to the roadbed and what's the best ballast to use?

Thanks guys, I hope you can be of help
