custom decals?

Decals are needed if you wanted the markings to follow the contour of the surface they were applied to, bot do you really need them for signs, etc? Seems to me you could just print them on plain paper, cut them out and glue them on.

MR had an article in the March 2000 issue talking about making decals. It was a neat article.

In the process of starting my new layout, I have decided that I'd like to label various buildings and industries with specific names/logos. I'm not a decal expert, but it would seem to me that there should be a way with computers and printers to create these custom logos and decals. Any ideas?
