I'm planning to model NYC's 20th Century ltd. and I need to know, how were those heavyweight cars painted before the engines got streamlined? also, what kind of cars (diner, pullman, coach, etc.) were used adn how many? thank you

Like the Broadway, the 20th Century were all Pullmans, no coach and ran between Chgo & NY.
Assume you are talking prior to the 50's . However in the 50's with the stainless steel cars/diesel the consist also included a AT&SF pullman car out of NY and transferred in Chgo for it's continuing journey west. Don't know if this was done with the earlier cars.
