I try to have some self control, but when I get in the train store and start looking around at all the stuff, I've gotta have it!...
Usually, I make out a list of things I want, and each month I allow myself to buy the things I want the most on the list.
Last night I did pretty good. I went in to get a $15.00 car and came out with $35.00 worth of stuff. That's better than a couple of months ago when I went in to get a $10.00 item and walked out with $100.00 worth.

Most people would like to win the lottery, but it looks like I'm going to have to...

Yep, the ebb and flow of train fever does swing back and forth for me too! The rolling stock and structure kits purchasing binge a few months ago has left me with a huge stack of kits to build now. I am holding off on any new purchases until I get some benchwork done and a new workbench built.

Sam,

I usually do in spurts, a little at a time. Thankfully, my yard (train yard, that is) is limited and pretty much at full capacity, at the present moment - which actaully makes for a good deterent. We probably spend about the same in a six month period.

Sam, do you buy kits, or RTR?

Tom

"Hey there Tom",

Yes, I do buy kits, but only if that's all that's available in what I want, or if it's the cheapest way to go. I don't have the patients I use to anymore...

has happened to me for the past 25 years!...(mine don't let up!)...I spend more time building locos, rolling stock, and kits that i've purchased than operating the layout...Chuck

Do any of you folks ever get what I call train fever ?. That's when you get on a kick where you can't seem to get enough rolling stock. It's as if the desire to buy stuff has saved up on you and suddenly starts pouring out like a dam that's just burst open...
I get this about every six months in regular cycles, and will spend about $500.00 before it's over each time.
I guess you could call it the model railroaders curse...
