i wrote the message more for other peoples information rather than as a request for information. the part i was after is a lima part and i doubt they will have it and besides buy the time it gets here is would probably be quicker for hornby to make me another anyway!

Note the word "were" in my comment on Golf Manor being the authorized Riv repair center. No mention was made of "free" or "warranty" repairs/parts, the man said he was looking for some parts. Golf Manor has a boatload of parts, but yes, they are for sale.
They are rather laid back. Slow isn't quite right for describing them though. Maybe 'glacial'.
What could have happened.... did.

I'd call Golf Manor Hobbies in Cincinnati. They were the authorized Riv repair center for a long time, and I know they have a bunch of parts.

Have you contacted Walthers about spare parts for Rivarossi products?

i spoke to Simon Kohler (hornby marketing director) at alexandra palace over the weekend and brought up the subject of spares from lima group. he said they were going through them right now ans should be available again in the "next few months". from another source i got a rough date for a part i am after and got "middle of may".

i also asked about the walthers distribution monopoly on Rivarossi products before they went belly up but he said it was a "business decision" and wouldnt be drawn on it.
