N scale passenger car questions... B&M

Hi folks

I keep searching for info on where to get accurate N scale passenger equipment for the B&M, or at least a New England road. MR's recent articles on making custom cars, while interesting, didn't answer my questions.

All the ready to run cars I can find are for all the usual over-issued roads. As for core kits, I can't find sides to go with them that appear right for the B&M.

Does anyone have any tips for finding out more on this topic? How do I know if a pre-painted set is close enough to be made into the B&M? What do I need to know about the prototypes?

Or do I have to live with the fact that, as usual, no one makes what I want??

HELP!
