Hello Joe,

Desoldering braid can help to remove excess solder around a rail joint, by wicking up the hot solder as you apply heat to the joint. The braid won't pull much if any solder out of a rail joiner however. While heating the joint, either slide the rail joiner to one side or the other with pliers, or pull one rail out of the joiner.

Good luck,

Andy

You're welcome, Joe, and I'm glad you liked the book (and you did get the tile right). - Andy

I'd like to second that--Also I have the Kalmbach book that includes the repring of the Washita & Santa Fe series. There are many helpful tips in that book as well.

Is Kalmbach planning on coming out with a book on DCC? That would be a big seller!
