I ran one yesterday. The one I ran was very smooth. It was a pretty engine but if you are a fanatic for detail, you may be disappointed. I have one layed away and plan shortly to order another. Nice little engines. I can't wait to get mine home. On the test track it appeared to run as well as my Kato Mikado. On the detail side, it does not have nearly the detail of the LL Berkshire or the Spectrum Consolidation. Oh, and always TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!
