Posted by Razorclaw on Sunday, March 13, 2005 9:59 PM
Hello, My family and I shall be going up to Arkansas in a few weeks. Can anybody recommend some good places to get some railroading items? We are mainly going to be around Harrison, Eureka Springs and Mountain Home.

Thanks for any info ya'll can give me. Stephen[:)]

Just think it could be worse.

The Eureka Springs railroad is kinda so/so (just my opinion)
I think the Arkansas & Missouri still runs passenger specials, Springdale to Winslow.
Its worth a trip an may be your last chance to see 4 and 5 unit Alco freights, mostly
C420's. The main line roughly parallels old Hwy 71 from Van Buren to Rogers.

Anyway back to your question the only shop I know of is in Fayetteville, 18th St./ I-540.

There's a real nice shop in the big University town there, think it was whichever one is home to the Razorbacks. Wish I could remember the name of it now.

There are three I know of:

Hobby Shack Jacksonville Arkansas
One Track Mind South Little Rock (Mabelvale)
Mike's Conway

GATS March 19,20 Little Rock Fairgrounds

Pine Bluff Show and Sale Project 819 shops off Port road on April 2

I think Fayettefille is home to several good stores.

18th Street Station Train Shop
2105 W. 18th Fayetteville AR 72701 (479 521-2091)

It is several hours from Mountain Home to any of these stores. Best to call ahead before visiting because the stores carry very different hours.
