I have Decided... IT Begins!
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, March 12, 2005 12:25 AM
Hi Everybody

I have Decided

I am going to go with a Point to Point for these reasons:

- It is realistic

-There is room for shunting

-Simpler because I am going to use Flex Track it will not have to be cut so
perfectly because it won't have to go directly anywhere!

-Does not have to be as wide as continous running layouts.

-I am alot more free in what track i buy and can make it more than a series of oval like tracks

-Easier to design

- Roadbed will be easier for the same reason as the Flex Track

-Trackplan can be changed

-Easily expandable

I was thinking i would do something like this trackplan...
If you go about halfway down the page you will find an L shaped layout
It is my favourite so far.

Many thanks

what do you think of the layout?

Well congratulations! Decision is good. Enjoy the construction process.

Still, indecision is the key to flexibility........

ok

I have made 1 change to the plan

What i will do is i will have a giant oval, probably about 2x8 and have all my point to point in the middle. That way at one end of the oval i can have mountains. The oval will have 2 mainlines.

Where do i go from here?

many thanks

for one thing the L shaped trackplan has no runaround track . unless you want to run around your loop each time you are switching cars you should put one in the switching area someplace.
