Buy my 1st house... and pay cash for it! ( approx $175,000.00)
Pay off the Jeep and Kia
Put about 100,000.00 into savings for the step-son's college education ( He's only 8 so I figure that in the next 10 yrs, this should cover atleast 4 yrears of college)
The rest, depends.... I know some will go to the layout , some new engines, and structures, track, etc...
The CFO must also have some as I don't want to be a 'hog"

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017

First thing I'd buy would be land. Heck yeah. Buy a big tract myself in some beautiful area, then buy other properties and flip them so that I can maintain...then start building. :)

If we're talking toys, sure I'd dump a lot into trains, I'd build my private zoo (lifelong dream, already have a lot of reptiles at home), I'd buy an Aston Martin Vanquish (always wanted one) and some collectable motorcycles, etc.

My wife and I have been thinking about this a lot lately...When we hit Powerball we retire!

Most of the money would go in the bank for future generations. We'd pay off any debts like student loans, mortgages, etc...Then we'd split a small chunk of it (several million) between the kids and us.

Since I use Train Simulator I'd probably get a REALLY nice computer. Since I'd be able to afford real model trains, I might be tempted to build a layout...A Z scale model of the Pennsy in an old warehouse would be nice...or maybe O scale in a football stadium?

I like the idea of buying a real railroad...A nice short line or tourist trap with steam.

Nah! sounds like work...

The only other thing I can think of is a 20" reflector telescope for those clear starry nights. Of course, I'd also have to get my Mazda Protege fixed...and then....[:)]

Well here in Aus we do not get a tax on our winnings so I would have heaps of do***o spend. Heres my list of buyings:
1. a pair of Holden Monaro's tuned to make 550bhp and 600Nm of torque. I would get 5-Axis to make me new bodykits for em to make em look like the Monaro GTS i drew.
2. get a warehouse and get a custom made layout depicting the run from Mt Isa to Townsville main of the CT,MtI&C.
3. buy my dad a Ferrari F430 hardtop
4. buy mum a Nissan 350Z Roadster
5. buy my bro a Nissan Skyline Z-Tune
6. complete all my promises

out of debt, then buy us [ my wife +2 kids and myself] new cars, then a new

I'd give our traction museum a nice deposit. Then I'd grab a nice piese of land and build a new house with an uncluttered all layout type basement. I'd also make sure there was enough back yard for a nice live steam ride on type layout. You know a nice couple mile run. Rob

I'd buy a house with enough space to build a decent layout. In the San Francisco Bay Area, this would take about one-fifteenth of the winnings before taxes. If the space were substantial, I would build an indoor large-scale logging layout in addition to modeling in On30.

After writing a six figure check to the local RR museum and paying off the mortgage, I'd buy a BLI Hudson to go with my Marx and Gilbert hudsons.

Everyones ideas are awesome. Just the tone in your writing made this a great question. Can you feel the energy this created.

After buying a big house for the family, I want to buy a huge protable layout, that can be set up at different churches and youth functions. Show kids God thru trains. Example have 12 boxcars with disiples names, take one off and see if anyone notices. Make learning fun idea.

Build a family compound so my kids always live close. Have my parents close by so they can be taken care of. Same for my brother and wife's relatives.

Spend a lot of time with family and friends.

Thanks for the question.

Tim

Nice idea, Tim. But how's this for an idea. Make it a passenger train, making all the passenger cars named after the disiples. Make the motive power an A-B-A lash up naming the lead A unit "Father", the B unit "Son", and the trailing A unit "Holy Spirit".

First, pay off the mortgage on the house, 2nd, pay off the debt on my business, 3rd whatever my wife and I want to spend it on. Some of that spending would include model railroading, but no purchase of a real rail line or anything like that. I think we'd replace both vehicles, buy a few "goodies" of one kind or another, take a vacation, etc.

After unplugging the phone, and after getting the financial engine in place to manage all that dough ( what's left after Uncle Sam is about $9,000,000), I would pay off all the current debt, including mortgage, student loans, and credit cards. Then with the remaining $8.9 million I would set aside enough for the boys college funds, put half of the remaining $$ in various high yield equity funds, take a quarter of the remaining half and play with it, and then donate some to various charities and the Boys Scouts of America.

Oh, and buy a huge building and construct a very large multi-level HO scale layout with help from all my friends.
