How much hype is solder weld?

I was floored when I walked into Radio Shack yesterday and saw this funny tube device for $5 called "Solder Weld."

It claims to be 5 times stronger than a solder joint--and a solder joint, if done properly, is pretty darn strong!"

Is this hype?

Furthermore, it claims to adhere to even iron and steel, even if it's coated! And, the only thing you need is a low heat source like a cheap soldering iron or even a match!

More hype?

I forgot to read if it conducts electricity but it is silver bearing so it probably does.

If all of the claims are accurate, then this product must be superior to ordinary rosin-core solder.

Whatchythink?

i've been soldering with 60-40 rosin core solder for over 45 years and i've seen many replacements for it but none have worked as well as regular solder. i've tried low heat and no heat solder and there is no comparison. don't waste your $5

Ah, did it look like a plastic syringe? If so, we bought something similar a few years back - it never worked properly and was eventually thrown away. A standard soldering iron and solder are far better!
