[#welcome][#welcome] Glad you're with us--you might want to check out the Coffee Shop and introduce yourself to the guys there, also. We've got several from England and Wales, and we have quite a bit of fun. Just tell them that Cat Tom/Bridge Tom sent you (it's a long story). Enjoy the forums--it's a great place to share.

Hi Keith,

I went to Uni in Canterbury and spent many a day in your neck of the woods. A good pint of Fremlins Tusker would be welcome here in Central Illinois! Is Hornby still based in Margate? I don't think they make anything there any more, but wondered if they have a museum or something worth visiting?

Welcome aboard

Welome Keith. I live in Asia 5 years myself, back in the 80's. Went back to PI last October and got to crawl on their lovely Alco #916. Planning to go back later this year and visit some of the steam power on the sugar plantations of Negros. Sadly, I will have to take a cruise ship from Manila and spend a day in an admirals cabin [4:-)]

Being old is when you didn't loose it, it's that you just can't remember where you put it.

Hi there,
My name's Keith and I live in Folkestone UK on the southeast coast near the entrance to the Channel Tunnel and Europe.......it's easier for me to get to Paris or Brussels than parts of the UK north of London!! Spent 30 years living in Asia (even working at one time for a fallen-flag American bank - Manufacturers Hanover Trust) and returned home to the UK and early retirement five years ago.
Have been interested in trains and railways for yonks - have to blame it on my grandfather who was a fitter at a loco depot in eastern England!! My collecting themes are rather "fluid" - have got loads of Union Pacific (including some Overland Gas Turbines - amazing locos!!) but latest craze is New England roads (my cousin lives just outside Boston) - particularly New Haven and Boston & Maine. Have also built up a collection of BLI models especially the big articulated locos - have even got two SP cab-forwards! Other interests include Japanese, Chinese and European especially German & Swiss as well as UK railroads.
Started construction of an 18ft x 9ft HO/OO layout when I returned home 5 years ago - progress has been rather slow but the pace may quicken as last week I decided to go DCC. Latest toy, though, is a G-Scale garden railway modelling the German and Swiss Narrow Gauge using LGB (although the Union Pacific in the form of either a F7AB set, PA/PB set or FA/FB/FA set or Boston & Maine in the form of a GP7 does make an appearance!![:D])
So, that's me!! Am looking forward to participating in these forums as I'm sure that any questions I may have have about US railroads and models will be quickly answered.
Keith
