Hi Steve, I have a small Z scale set that I purchased more out of fascination that something so small could be so well engineered. Z scale may not be very big in the USA, but there is always some Marklin stuff for sale at the various train shows in the area. A couple of weekends ago at the trainshow in Collinsville, IL, there was a decent size Z scale module layout on display. It was getting a lot of attention.

There is a Z scale US prototype web site at http://www.ztrains.com/ and a Z scale convention in 2005.

Welcome aboard, great to have another Welsh member! I'm from somewhere in the middle though I have relatives up in Llangollen, and have been following the railway in recent years via their website - particularly the "Wickham" DMU they rebuilt. My Great-Grandfather worked as a Guard on that section when it was still main line, so I've heard a few good stories passed down through that side of the family - like the horsebox that escaped while being loaded (with Great Grandad on board!), luckily he was able to stop it with the handbrake before it got too far!

You're right, Garden Railroading has grown considerably in popularity. Haven't noticed a lot of activity in Z gauge, however, there has been a marked growth of N Scale.

Which BLI locomotives do you have?

As a new user of this forum I would like to say hello I am In North Wales UK Near the town of MOLD Not far from A few preserved Narrow Gauge Railways such | as the FFestiniog and Tal-y-Llyn, and very close to LLANGOLLEN where there ia a Standard Gauge Preserved Steam Line about 8 miles long. I currently model in 2 scales G outside in the garden ( I have had a Garden Railway in one form or another for about 28 years. And Z-GAUGE (the 2 extremes!) I Know that Garden Railways appear to be gaining popularity in the states but I do not see much publicity on Z-Gauge over there, does it have much of a following? I should have added that I also own a few Broadway Limited H0 locos but my H0 railway is currently dismantled pending a possible house move! Steve Lewis
