Decoder install in N Scale Bachmann2-8-0
Posted by tommann on Sunday, March 6, 2005 9:57 PM
Hi;

I know I saw an articla in MR about installing a sound decoder in this loco. However, I can't find it. Am I going nuts or was there really such an article? Can anyone tell me what issue?

Thank you,
Tom Mann.

You're nuts, I think [:o)]. There may have been an article on installing a decoder in the N scale Connie, but I think you're recalling an article on the sound install for an HO loco. Having just done a decoder only install the N scale Connie, with two more to go, I recommend the Lenz5021W. The Digitrax DZ1x3 decoders are a really, REALLY tight fit. It worked, but the other two are getting Lenzs, even though they're much more expensive.

Mind you, Tony's Train Exchange does have a listing for a sound equipped N Scale Connie (at 400 bones!), so it is possible. If so, the speaker must go in the tender. Here's a brief description on how to get into the tender - http://www.tonysdcc.com/tonystips/2001/122101.htm

Hi;

OK, I'll have myself certified. [:(] Thanks for the reply. Do you know what issue the HO article was in?
