assembling loco

Good Day,
I've purchase an Athearn loco that needs to have the handrails and such put together. Is it recomended to glue the rails to the loco? how about the stanchions? If so, what type of glue should I use?
Second question: while installing the handrail I broke the plastic around the hole where it attaches to the loco, should I attempt to drill another tiny hole? or should I try to glue the rail to the loco? (thus the question above)
Thank you!
Jaime
