Nice article by Steve King on operating a logging oriented railroad. Excellent pictures of Steve Sherrill's great On30 railroad. Nice to see On30 shown in the mainstream press as more than "caricature toonerville trolly modeling". Good to see operating schemes discussed outside the realm of the usual common carrier railroads.
If you are interested in logging you should check out On30, or narrow gauge in general. O scale is great for the old eyeballs and an On30 layout can be put in a 10x11 room. See my web articles at:

I commend Kalmbach and editor Tony Koester for another great issue with more diverse articles covering a wide spectrum of modeling.
