Great Layouts on RFDTV
Posted by twhite on Thursday, March 3, 2005 3:29 PM
I just saw on my cable guide that RFD-TV has a new program called "Great Layouts". Is this what I hope it is? Anyone got any info? I'm hoping it's a series like "I Love Trains". It's scheduled here on the West Coast for 4:00 and 10:00 PM today. If it's what I think it is, then there's at least three reasons to keep this channel on cable, the other two being "Trains and Locomotives" and "Tracks Ahead." Oh dang, I said 'cable' didn't I? Sorry, I meant Satellite.
Hope it's what I think it is, [:p]

What is RFDTV? I have two providers (cable and satellite) and hundreds of channels and I have no idea what this is.

It's the Rural Free Delivery satellite channel. It's mostly about farming and rural life, has some great programming. They also have two great railroad shows on each week: TRAINS AND LOCOMOTIVES and TRACKS AHEAD. I've got the Dish Satellite system, and out here on the West Coast, it comes in over channel 9409. I've heard from other people on this forum that it's pretty largely available on all of the satellilte systems. Check your on-screen guide and head up into the higher 4-digit numbers, you might find it there.

Hmmmm,

Just checked the program guide for RFD-TV on Directv (CH 379) and this is what it says:

The B & O Travelling Layout in Cincinnatti Part 1

The B&O Railroad uses an O Scale train layout as a travelling public-relations tool.

Nah doesn't apply to us.....[:D]

Thanks for the heads up

RFD-TV's schedule has been out of whack for the past two months -- none of the shows in their program guide are what are actually showing. The one today that was supposed to be about the B&O Museum's O-scale layout was about two individual's layouts. The Trains and Locomotives show is also out of kilter, with a different video being shown each week than what their guide says is going to be on.

I watched tonight, this couple had a HUGE layout, like 33 trains running at once
