Train Station
Posted by doanster on Monday, February 28, 2005 10:19 PM
Hello!

I am planning on building a station set in some region around California or New Mexico. Can you tell me where I can find pictures? (I live in Canada so I am no where remotely close to the actual locations [:(])

I envision a concrete station with a Mexican theme with tan or pale-yellow color walls, perhaps with a stucco finish. There might be palm trees surrounding the station. It is a passenger station.

Maybe something like this:

I would imagine that it would be served by the Santa Fe or Southern Pacific... I am not sure since I recently had the urge to model a sunny location while it is snowing outside my window!

I remembered seeing an article in a back issue of MRR. This link takes you to a brief description of the article. It looks like the type of scene you are describing.

Hi,
Did you happen to get the Jan 05 issue of Model Railroader, it has a smaller structure that just may fit the bill. The Lamy station of Santa Fe, New Mexico. It's a scratch build but the article list's all the parts and how to's.

Search for train station and Southern Pacific and train station and Santa Fe. If that does not produce results, try omitting the train part.

doanster,

I've been thinking of doing the same thing.

You might want to looks at this site:

http://www.atsfrr.com/

It's the Historical site with pictures for the Ol SantaFe.
I think they still have pictures there of the old Clovis New Mexico Station
which still stands but now houses the Clovis Train Depot Museum...

http://www.clovisdepot.com/

Just to the West of this Train Depot is the Clovis Train Yard and at one time this was a HUGE Yard.

I hope this helps!
