MRP 2005 - haphazard review.

I checked it out last night.

It seems as if it's focused mostly on huge monster-sized layouts. Nonetheless, it's still fun to read.

For some reason, it's fun to think about the logistics, etc. of building a monster sized layout, even though it's not something I'll ever do.

It makes me wish I built layouts professionally with no dollar limit or something, so that I could employ all of the cool stuff in MRP.

MRP lets those small layouts types like me have a glance into the world of big-time model railroading.

I did like the small switching layout, however! So I guess it's not always big layouts, but there were certainly some big ones this year, and they seem to get most of the attention in the magazine.

Again, still lots of fun to read.

Haven't read it yet but I see one of the darlings of the inner sanctum, Dave Barrow, is again featured in this issue. This time he's telling us how to light our layouts. My first thought was, "Now what's he's got we can't live without, a "minimalist" lighting concept, like a single light bulb hanging from the ceiling in the middle of his layout room?!"

Ah well, it's almost April 1!
