Need Airbrush Primer
Posted by SpaceMouse on Thursday, February 24, 2005 7:07 PM
(That was almost a pun)

Got a Badger 150 on (dare I say it) EBay, with a Badger 185 compressor for $75. Well that guy sure got me because there are no instructions. So, I'm stuck knowing less about airbrushes thatn I did about model trains on Dec 24th.

Any good webistes out there?

I need a website that gives the basic of using an airbrush. Like for starters, which end does the paint come out.

(Actually I figured that much out.) But it would help to know about paints, and thinning and pressures and stuff like that.

Hi Space Mouse,
I bought my Badger airbrush from a company representative at a train show last year and he was very helpful. I'd suggest that you go to Badger's website and ask them for help. I would request their video tape that explains all about airbrushing....I found it very helpful. I got the video for free with my purchase but I'm sure they won't charge much.

Hope this helps.

Kalmbach (MR) has/had a video on air brushing.

So does Dave Frary http://www.mrscenery.com/video.html

Well actually the video's about painting models in general, but he teaches you about using the airbrush, too. I believe Micro-Mark sells his video, too.

Hope this helps!

The way I learned airbrushing was just by doing it. Pick up an old model, or even some cardboard or styrene and just play around with pressures and nozzle positions until you get good. Then try painting something. I wouldn't start with something really important to you. Maybe a bridge or a car. That way theres no big loss if you mess up. Once you get good you might get around to painting lil guy[:D]
