I placed an NCE D13SRJ in my Genesis. No problems or issues.

Box Car,

Do you know for sure whether that particular decoder is meant specifically for the Athearn 2-8-2? Is the MRC AD310 a plug-in type decoder for a JST plug? There is a dummy board that has to be removed FIRST before installing any JST accomodating decoder.

As far as alternate decoders go, I just put in a Lenz LE1014-JST into mine and it runs great. I was only about $16 from Litchfield Station. Here's the direct link to the decoder page: http://www.litchfieldstation.com/s/o/lenz/lenz.html#LE1025-JST-WH. Just scroll down to you see Lenz LE1014-JST.

Box Car,

Just want to stick a bug in your ear. I replaced the "green" LED headlight in my 2-8-2 with a 3mm T1 "golden-white LED. The installation was easy: Unsolder the old LED; solder in a new one. WOW!!! What a difference!!! No comparison!!!

Anyhow, just something for you to keep in mind down the road. Make any headway with the MRC decoder?
