MAD City Train Show - Madison
Posted by jrbernier on Sunday, February 20, 2005 9:49 AM
Well, I went to Madison on Saturday for the show. And even on a Saturday, there were lots of large 4 wheel strollers! I think this show holds some kind of record for strollers!
Anyway, I was looking for new releases and came away with some of my list:

o - picked up another paint variation of the rib side productions car from the Milwaukee Historical Group.

o - Got a Kadee Milwaukee PS-2 - $32 plus tax

o - Picked up some Athearn RTR at 30% off

o - Found a guy selling Atlas code 83 for $2.50/stick, wanted me to pay by cash or check made out to 'cash' - Good deal, butI wonder if he is going through divorce and is trying to hide his income.

I saw a couple of new laser kit manufactures, and both had some nice structures, but quite pricy compared to AMB or Bar Mills. I noticed that there did not seem to be as many dealers this year. St Aubins Station(large scale) was not there. The dealers did seem to have the newest offerings and the prices were discounted 20-30% - about normal for a train show. I did not see the Walther 14 section Pullman in Milwaukee Road - maybe it is delayed, I did see C&NW and CB&Q however. I did a walk through of the layouts and really saw nothing new of interest. Since we had over a 3 hour drive to get there, we left about 1:30 PM to drive back west(snow storm forcast for the evening). Got home about 5:00 PM just as the flurries started. Good thing, I just blew out 6-8" of snow this morning, and it has started up again. At least I have some new stuff to work on today!
Leaving for Peoria Monday moring(work related) - any good hobby shops I should visit in that area?

I was there Sat to lots ands lots of people, found some good deals. One guy was selling the new Woodland scenics cars and trucks, can't beleive I paid $21.00 dollars for a tow truck with one car and two people? Warning these are not die cast there a plastic, also bought the pick-up truck with the dog in the back it sits ****-eyed on the table looks like the frame is pushed up into the body. Still like the Classic Metals better. All in all it was a good show.

I also went yesterday(Sat), and I enjoyed it alot. I didn't find as much as I usually get, but then I wasn't looking for as much as I usually am either.
