QSI Manual is HUGE!
Posted by DigitalGriffin on Thursday, February 17, 2005 7:30 PM
I was wondering why my LL P2K and BLI with QSI sound didn't include a detailed listing of register's/CV's to control it.

Interestingly enough the "Chuff" sound for QSI changes based on the delay ACCEL/DECEL settings in CV3 & CV4. A heavier load (A full coal drag for example) would accelerate slower than an engine only load. Well they didn't include a detailed listing of values for the CVs. By default this is not enabled because CV3 and CV4 are set to 0 by default.

After going online, I found out why BLI & LL didn't include the QSI maual with the train. That manual is a hefty 184 pages! I think I killed a couple trees printing this one out.!

Any ways, I thought it was an interesting little fact for anyone who might have skiped the small print in manuals.

I printed it a couple of years ago when I bought my BLI Hudson. To save paper, I printed the odd pages
and then flipped the stack over and printed the even pages on the back. It still took a lot of paper.

The sad thing is, it is probably out dated. I really should print a new copy... one of these days. Dave

Yes Dave, the one there now is Version 3, Pat Quinn just mentioned it was there in the past couple of days. I had downloaded the older one a while back, when my father in law was waiting for his GG-1. BLI had a link to it on their site. This new one comes right from the QSI site.
There is a WEALTH of great info in there - including (why I'm not sure) complete prototype operating info for the UP Veranda turbines (ie the Lionel model).
Guess I have to get this surplus double-sided laser printer back in operation soon. I don;t mind reading off my computer, but I'd like to put a hardcopy in a binder for easier reference when I'm all the way down in the basement - my computer is on the third floor, what used to be the attic until it was finished out. I've already started a DCC binder with other useful info in it.
