The residue is the outgassing from the CA curing. It is typically a chloride compound, that will come off with warm water and a bit of scrubbing.

As mentioned above, a solvent type adhesive, applied very sparringly is preferred.

Don't use what is called a "kicker" for CA glue, it will leave the residue you mentioned.

A kicker is used to set the glue faster than it normally would on its own.

Also experiment with thin CA. They make it from gap filling to thin mixtures. Again the thicker CA can leave a residue instead of soaking in.

If these are clear parts, I've heard that a little"Mop & Glow", will take care of this and give a real nice shine. I've used it on painted parts and it does a real nice job of taking care of blemishes on these parts. You can also use it over decals as long as you let them fully dry and set. 3-4 days at least.

I prefer to use XR-7 on any styrene kits since it melts the two pieces together to form a bond as opposed to just providing a third medium that sticks to both parts.

White residue is common with CA adhesives. I have never had trouble getting paint to stick on these areas. Do try to wash off what will come off, let the glue fully cure before painting. It shouldn't give you any problems. As with all glues. use only as much as is needed to secure a bond. Dan

Using Super Jet glue (made by carl goldbergs models0 on a Walters Cornerstone double track truss. After a few hour I noticed a white film around some glued areas.

Now wondering if my LHS sugested the wrong adheasive. If so now is a good place to stop.

I guess washing the bridge with Ivory soap before air brushing it may get it off, as I doubt if the silver paint will stick in these places.

You guys know far more then I, If there is a better glue please en-light-en me.
