Pierce,
My impression of fall in the SF area - particulalry east towards Berkley, Walnut Creek, and Napa is that it is really quite beautiful. In many respects, it lacks the vibrant colors of the Northeast. However, you do see a gradual turning of the hillsides from green to the tans of the dried grasses. Done well on a layout, I'm sure the tan rolling hills would look great!
Good luck.
Dan

Pierce, I was just (sorta) kidding - there's parts of California that has seasons, right? There's something to be said for each season - the blooming flowers of spring, the colorful leaves of fall, etc. Pick whatever you like. Maybe you could even do a "4-seasons" layout, with the season changing from one area to the next!

I'm trying to model late fall in late 40's early 50's layout. No final year set yet. I goning to model the Southern Pacfic in Cal somewhere around San Francisco. I need to make the entire layout be fall possiable somewhere between Sept and Nov. Nothin real expensive if possiable!
