The only actual mine I have ever seen was the one TexasGulf Corp. operates in Aurora, NC. The whole operation is huge, as in miles, and it's surface mining. You could probably fit a Big Boy sideways in the dragline shovel, no joke. Just the dragline was as big as a power company boiler house, and it's all computer controlled.
What could have happened.... did.

First off, welcome to the forum. I am sure some of us will help you with what you seek.

Secondly, please ease off the capital letters... on the internet it is considered rude and very much like shouting.

Type wikipedia into your google and look for mines of the type you are seeking. This should help you on the way. As far as the hopper caps Atlas made Chessie Yellow in 34' covered hoppers some time ago. I believe these are out of production however you may find some on ebay and at trainshows.

www.walthers.com may provide you with a list of hobby shops to contact for the models you seek.
