Source for small run,custom decals?
Posted by mikebonellisr on Saturday, February 12, 2005 5:34 PM
I am working on a project where I want to apply a trucking company name(SHAWMUT) to some tractor/trailers on my 1950's HO, era layout.I've tried hand painting them, but am not happy with the results.I've read a little on this forum about a ALPs printer for making your own decals. First...I don't think that I have the capability to set the lettering on this computer(I'm lucky that I can get on this forum,or read my e-mails) and second,I would'nt have enough use for it to go out and buy a system.Who would I contact,What would it cost(ball park) and how do I go about getting it done?

Mike,

Have you seen this thread on Decals? I do believe a few of the posts reference to someone having their decals made for them.

I hope this helps,

Mike - Several custom decal printers advertise in MR. The name Rail Graphics comes immediately to mind but there certainly are others. Ball park figures for a small run of basic custom decals of lettering only (it's more if they are multi-color or include a logo) is in the $60-$75 range as I recall. A letter requesting info on their services will bring you full details and prices.
