Ore car draw bars HO scale
Posted by WC3023 on Thursday, February 10, 2005 9:00 PM
I have several sets of Walthers 22ft. ore cars. One set has draw bars and the rest have dummy couplers. I would like to get or make draw bars for the rest. Any help ?

CF7's A perfectly good use for a worn out F unit ! And they are COOL!

WC- I'm not familiar with the details of these cars, but if you have a set with drawbars, can you use one of them for a pattern?
Copy the design to a template and go to town!

Use a piece of heavy strip styrene, drill holes at both ends. I've done this to make drawbars between F unit diesels.

I feel your pain, those dummy couplers are real junk. I have about 200 cars from walters I need to make drawbars for, fortunately I have a couple of the taconite 12-packs to copy the drawbars. Let me know if you come up with any thing quicker then drilling your own. I tried my own once and didn't use heavy enough stock so follow Bob's advise there for sure.

Good Luck, Rich
