While I find this particular topic completely inane, and poorly written, what I find worse is the complaining about it's existance.

Don't you guys get it? Wasting your breath, railing against this stuff only prolongs the agony.

If you don't like, it don't post to it!!! Every time someone does, it goes right back to the top. JUST STOP!!!!

Now I have to go punish myself for being a hypocrite. DUH. [swg]

I enjoy some of these topics. I started some of the football polls, as a Charger fan. I also included the I hate button so everyone can be included. [:)]

There are so many topics on the forum, that some that don't interest me don't bother me. I personally don't care for hockey, hard to find ice in San Diego, and basketball is boring until the playoffs, then only a few teams miss that. But the Superbowl is an event, even non sports people watch it, some because, some for commercials.

Now if San Diego had a basketball team, or a hockey team in the NHL I might be more interested. Go Team.

Keep up the good work, trains r me. Besides, somewhere on my layout, I would like to have a baseball stadium, saw one in O gauge, hopefully there is one in HO.

True this is not model railroading but the thread tells you that, you have the right not to read it. I do not really care much about NHL even if Boston wins the cup. As for Basketball I do follow the Celtics but I seldom watch more then a few minutes of any game even the playoffs. Now back to trains.

Hmm - just comparing this topic to the similar ones about the NFL in weeks past. It seems all of those were much more civil. Is it because football is more popular, the NHL plays a "who cares" sport, and the NBA is moving in that direction?

I'm 57, and I still play pretty competitive hockey with guys young enough to be my sons. I gave up watching the NHL on TV when they moved the games to pay cable. I followed the Olympics, watched the Sox faithfully once they got to the playoffs, and I always watch football, but the rest of the pro sports world doesn't get a moment of my time.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Have any of you people ever though that maybe he wants to know what fellow model railroaders think about the situation?

Anyways, I think the players need to realize that a 42 million dollar cap ain't gonna freakin happen. They need to come back down to earth and accept the owners deal. Why should the players negotiate a contract when it's the owners that locked them out? I know not all players are greedy and I am aware that quite a few are playing elsewhere for less. However the union needs to step down from it's high horse and realize that players can be replaced, a new union can be formed for the so called "scabs".

I think the whole situation sucks and I do blame both sides for dragging this on for so long without any progress.

By the way, the AHL ALl Star Game is next monday the 14th. Yes on ESPN2! About time!

Go here for complete listings http://www.theahl.com/AHL/05AllStar/home.html

I have my own hockey career to worry about myself. I have tryouts for the juniors coming up,. Can't wait to play!

I agree the moderators need to step in here and get rid of this crap and keep to the subject. It is not pro sports who pay for this site. Go use their boards. Oops, i guess they don't have any.

We come here for model railroading, not SPORTS! Then, like Brunton states, if we complain about you guys for going off subject, you have the audacity to flame us about complaining about it!

We really shouldn't have to say anything!
1). You should stay on topic, as is basically stated in the FORUM's rules!
2). If the above ain't possible, the subject should be dumped by the forum moderator!

I hate to get all cranky about this, but simply put, follow the rules! You wann talk about sports, go to a sports forum!

Here it comes!!!

Sports players are paid far too much money for what they do. And why are they paid so much money? Because we, as fans spend insane amounts of money to go watch them, or sit in front of the boob tube like robots to watch them. That is where all the big money comes from for salaries...the Tv networks that pay $M to get the rights to broadcast the games, the $M that are then paid by the advertisers, and of course the $M spend on ticket sales that are TOTALLY rediculous.
The president of the U.S. gets something like $650K to make life and death decisions for 250 million people, and a sports players like Pedro get $25,000,000 ? Tell me we aren't screwed up in this world!![soapbox]
Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Well I would like to see my Los Angeles Lakers go to the finals.... but they probably won't even make the playoffs this year.... they are having the worste season I can remember.... it isn't the coaching but rather the lack of unit cohesion this year.... and the lack of the Big Guy... Oh well I will live.... and I'm not to fond of my Baseball team either (The Los Angeles Angels of Anahiem, what a rediculous name) so I may root for the Dodgers this season.
