HO Scale Sailor Figures ? (P. S. Source Found !)

Does anyone know of a source for sailor figures in HO scale, other than by modifying stock figures ? I think I did a thorough search of what Preiser has to offer.

Try military miniature suppliers. They might have naval miniatures of various eras--are you looking for Navy personell, jolly Jack Tars, or what?

Are you thinking about military sailors or civilian sailors? I don't know of any military HO scale Navy folks, but I would think that lots of figures would lend themselves well to merchant mariners such as warehouse workers and the like.
If you ain't having fun, you're not doing it right and if you are having fun, don't let anyone tell you you're doing it wrong.

I have the Preiser catalog and you are right. No sailors. Most are soldiers

Dave, Jetrock and Chuck,
Well, I recently ordered an HO scale cast resin narrow gauge railroad ferry by Artitec from Mr. Dudley Fay at Across The Pond:
http:// www.acrossthepond.net
and wanted a deck crew for it. I finally did a Goggle search and found some figures by Preiser at Greenway Products:
http://www.greenwayproducts.com
but also found that EuroRail Hobbies:
http://www.eurorailhobbies.com/erh/eurorailhobbieslist.asp?mn=10&sc=HO
has an online catalogue listing some 826 sets of Preiser figures. For those of you who need similar figures here's an informal listing:
10014 - different occupations, includes one sailor in whites
10072 - rowboat rental - Captain, seated male and female figure
10249 - deep sea divers
10350 - dock workers/warehousemen
10352 - merchant seamen ashore, some with duffel bags
10353 - ship's crew
I hope this helps someone else.

P.S. I believe Fidelis Models is another stateside vendor of the ferry kit:

For those of you interested in the ferry. it's narrow gauge - the gauge it represents is 750 mm, which if my arithmetic is correct, is spot on for HOn30. I will modify it to HOn3.

look in Walthers catalog under military figures. They have HO scale sailors. Good luck with your search
