Don;

The decoder you purchase fits the Spectrum 2-8-0 and Spectrum USRA Light 4-8-2 's standard tenders. It does NOT fit the Vandy tender. Call Tony's or Loy's, they will set you up with a decoder that fit.

I bought a George Washington Train set by Bachmann. It uses 4-8-2 Heavy as the engine. Every website I visited said the Soundtraxx DSD-B280LC would work with Bachmann's 2-8-0 and 4-8-2 with minor modification.

Turns out the George Washington uses a Vanderbuilt Tender and the DSD-B280LC doesn't fit inside it. It's about 3 mm too wide...maybe even more as the Plug and Play plug sits a little to the side. Moving the Bachmann board is difficult also. They have it tacked down real good to the roof and I don't know how.

Now what? Suggestions for a replacement anyone?
