Model Power toy train sets are no good, but their re-released Mantua products seem to be a lot better than the old Mantua.

Menards hardware is selling a MP- HO loco-four car set-cheap pack,MSP$65.00 discounted to about $35.00.
The interesting thing about the cars is that they are all metal, excepting the truck frame & coupler.
Car weight 13.4 oz, that's not a typo.

Whoa! Let's not rewrite history here! Based on MR's own news brief regarding the subject, Mantua Industries ceased production of their model train line at the close of 2001. The line was eventually purchased by Model Power. Mantua Industries continues operations, now focusing on its line of sporting goods. Tyco, as a model railroad product name, originally was used for the RTR version of Mantua's products. Although for a time independent, the Tyco name has been defunct for years and is not the parent company of Mantua. Incidentally, Tyco has no association with the infamous TYCO conglomerate that has been in the news the last year or two.

The two former Mantua locomotives so far released (the 0-6-0T and the logger) by Model Power seem unchanged from the former, rather dated, products by Mantua, except for more realistic pricing. The revived freight car line appears to be the old Mantua "Heavy Weights", never a particularly good set of cars, now done in metal instead of plastic.
