In only have the 2nd "expanded" editioin so I cannot really say what more it provides.  First edition was 1988, second is 1994 and it says that all material first appeared in Model Railroader.  So if you have MR from 1988 to 1994 I suspect you have whatever Curren kitbash articles were added to 2nd edition.

Maybe this will help -- table of contents

The theory and practice of kitbashing.

Star Printers

Maple Street USA (5 houses)

Hardly Abel Mfg Co

Edison Supply Co

A pair of kitbashed storage sheds

Perry Shibbel Fruit and Produce Co-Op

Chrisville Mill

Artz Lumber Co

Eight structures for the Gold Hill Central

Flatt Iron Co

A frugal factory kitbash

A wedge-shaped factory

Gambol Whaite & Hope Co

Erie RR Overbrook Depot (more scratchbuilt than kitbashed actually)

Superior Sandwich Factory

Details do make the difference

Finding the Kits

Index.

------------------------------------------------

If you like kitbashing that much -- do you have Tony Koester's kitbash book for Kalmbach?  A different approach -- Current would find interesting kits and then wonder what to do with then; Koester finds interesting structures and then wonders how to kitbash them.

There are also two structure books from Kalmbach by Jeff Wilson that have kitbashing content.

And lastly, and I did not know about this book until last year, Curren had written a kitbashing books for the Lionel/American Flyer tinplate crowd, also published by Kalmbach.

FRRYKid
The enhanced edition was published in 1994 and has 8 additional pages according to the listings I found.

Thanks. That hardly sounds like a reason to purchase another copy. :(

I don't own it but I did do a quick eBay search for it. (Can find almost anything on eBay.) The enhanced edition was published in 1994 and has 8 additional pages according to the listings I found. Hope that answers your question.

Art Curren Kitbash Book
Posted by danmerkel on Monday, July 1, 2024 1:08 PM

I've been a long-tim fan of the late Art Curren's kitbashing articles in MODEL RAILROADER. I think I've built most of them. Anyway,I ran across a listing for a book that he wrote, KITBASHING HO MODEL RAILROAD STRUCTURES that is listed as an enhanced edition. It has a red cover which is different from the copy I have.

Does anyone own a copy of this book and can you tell me how it is different from the original one? As an avid kitbasher, if there is some additional material in the book, I may well need a copy of it.

Thank you in advance.
