I think Micro-Trains is the "Kadee" of N scale.  If theri site is anything like Kadees look up your loco and the answer will be there as to which coupleer to use along with the directions on how to change them.  Sounds like that may include removing the shell if the couplers are in the way.

i want to remove the body from a lifeloike N-scale FA1 for painting, but the couplers are in the way.  how do I remove them without breaking the piece that holds them in place?  Also, what would be a good realistic replacement coupler?  Kadee?
