Pikestuff models, a review

Well, I just got a Pikestuff model yesterday and decided to assemble it. I had a little difficulty because I didn't have access to a hobby knife, only a utility knife (carpet cutter). I was able to make it work. I really liked the kit. It was easy to assemble, even though the instructions were a little vague. The structure I assembled was the enginehouse, model #5000. I still have to add the drainspouts and some filler in the joints/cracks between pieces, and then some paint, but since this is going to be a kitbash with another structure, I will do that later. The ability to decide where I wanted the openings to go was nice, since the structure will not be used as an enginehouse and I didn't necessarily want many windows or doors. This, combined with another Pikestuff structure will creat a shed in which to house a coal dumper mechanism, that in reality doesn't exist. Overall, this is a nice kit.

I like their stuff, they are easy to modify, like the 3 bay fire truck garage. I had to change it to a 2 bay garage to fit on my layout and I used it as a truck repair garage. It came out good.

I have the Distribution Center kit 0010. I using it to make 2 buildings against the wall on a 2' wide section of my layout. The first one looks good. I like the flexability of the door cutouts. The kit is very good quality for the pirce.

This morning I assembled the second kit and then combined the two. It still needs for the vents on the roof and the drainspouts to be glued on. Here is a photo of the two kits combined:

Also in the picture are the bottles of Micro Set and Micro Sol that I got in the same order. They are waiting for this coming weekend when I have assess to two structures currently awaiting decals as well as another that is near completion. After the decals are on, I will then use my airbru***o do some weathering.
