This might be your best bet, a NWSL remotoring kit for the dockside
Repower Kit, HO Varney Dockside, 0-4-0t, 1/8" Axle – NorthWest Short Line (nwsl.com)
Varney didn't always use the same gear pitch, but you might be able to pull and use a standard Athearn worm for the later ones with larger plastic teeth.

Re[lacement gears most likely can be found at Northwestshortline. They supply a large number of motors and gear types. They can be helpful in finding something to if you call them. If you cannt find it only line. example, a good meshing worm gear.

I'm interested in remotoring an old Varney docksider and/or Casey Jones locomotive. However, I don't know what size worm to use on the motor shaft. Does anyone happen to know what the specs are for the Varney worms on these locomotives and who might provide a replacement worm that would mesh properly? Thanks!
