Hi,
I just got an undecorated Athearn Bombardier Car. I'd like to paint it in the old Metrolink colors of white and purple. Has anyone had any experience finding a matte purple thats a close match to the metrolink color. I would also like to use it with an airbrish?
Thanks for the help!
Jake
Trucolor Paint carries the MBTA purple, part number TCP170.

Thanks, I did see that. I'm a little worried it may be too pink for Metrolink.
When I compare TCP170 to photos of MBTA locomotives on Google Images, that purple color looks pinkish. If it were me, I would at least try the TCP170 paint.

Thanks, but TCP160 looks like its grey..
JakeTurner11 Thanks, but TCP160 looks like its grey..
Purple tends to fade to the pink side in real life.
What I was trying to say earlier is that I think that TCP170 and photos of MBTA locomotives on Google Images look alike, purple, pinkish purple, whatever.
Thanks Rich. I agree that the TCP170 and the photos of MBTA look alike. However for this project, I'm looking for something that matches the deeper purple / blue Metrolink cars in Southern California. And unfortunately the MBTA is Purple isnt as close as I would like it to be to the Metrolink Purple.
Just a thought; recently chose a Tru-Color yellow from their line of automotive gloss paints. Using plastic spoons and test spraying over Tamiya white primer the yellow was much brighter than the website swatch. I'm weak at color mixing, but tweaking the primer color; two parts white to one part grey gave me the desired shade of yellow. Have little experience with Tru-Color, but so far I like the results and find the paint to be forgiving via the airbrush.
