Adding weight to Athearn SW7
Posted by CP5415 on Friday, January 28, 2005 8:47 PM
Does anyone have a good way to add weight to an Athearn SW7?
I just bought one & I know it's way too light do pull many cars even on a straight level track.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Gordon

did you buy it new. i have a 27 year old sw7 and some sw1500's and they will pull over 20 cars on level track and around curves. if it is not new it may need to be disassembled and cleaned. there may be some room under the long hood between it and the motor to glue some extra weight.

At one time some manufacturer offered a weight to fit inside the SW-7 I have mine but it is not in a package so I cannot be sure who made it. It may have been Cary, now part of Bowser, but again I am not sure.

It's brand new, bought it Friday.
20 cars eh?
Ok, I guess it's just me thinking it was too light.

Thanks
