Weekend Photo Fun - July 7th - July 10th, 2023

Good morning from partly sunny and warm Northeast Ohio!

I got a couple of cars and an engine completed this week!

First up, an IMWX 1937 AAR Boxcar kit, substituted Yarmouth Models Sill Steps for the plastic ones in the kit. Painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red #2 and lettered with K4 decals. The NKP and WLE purchased almost 5,000 of this style boxcar and this is a WLE subleased to the NKP used in general freight service.

Next is an old AHM Helium Tank car that I modified and upgraded with Wire Graps and new ladders and running board. These cars were upgraded after the US Navy stopped using blimps and the cars were sent to the US Bureau of Mines and were used shipping Helium to various government facilities including NASA Glenn here in Cleveland.

I finished up a Proto 2000 Phase I GP7 with wire grabs and lift rings and various other parts to match a DT&I unit. Painted with a 50/50 mixture of Scalecoat II Reefer Yellow and ATSF Red and lettered with a mixture of Herald King and Microscale Decals. #952 was one of the last GP7's still on the railroad at the time of the GTW purchase and was also leased to the PC at various times in the 1970's.

In keeping with the DT&I and July 4th, I will throw in a Bi-Centennial DT&I #1776 along with a pair of GP40-2's and an Auto Parts train running on the Strongsville Club Layout.

Thanks for looking!

Rick,  Thanks for poppin' open the WPF, the way you finesse paint, details and decals is always a joy to behold, your helium car must have been an uplifting build Clown.

Wishing a good weekend to all, and a happy National Dive Bar Day. Regards, Peter

Rick: Those K4 decals make for an excellent model of that boxcar. As always, I really do appreciate the background stories that accompany your models. The GP-9 is also an excellent model. Great work.

Peter: Thank you for sharing another one of your excellent photographs.

They are here!

They are finally here!

After a long wait, my pre-order of the Rapido Railcrew uncouplers arrived.

I ordered two twelve packs. Inside each twelve pack was two six packs, and inside each six packs were six individual boxes. I guess the retailers could choose how to sell them.

With these 24, I now have 33 total. My plan calls for 31 of them so I should be OK.

This was THE LAST item I had on my "Lifetime Supply To Buy" list.

Nothing can stop the SGRR now.

A slow WPF this week... Not much to show from my layout this week. I installed sound in a loco and fine-tuned a brass engine. All "under the skin" work that is not very photogenic.  Here's a pic taken at our local club:
