Does anyone know who bought or took over the Rail Shop Inc business? Looking for some kits they used to sell

Never heard of them. Where were they located? I did an Ebay search and didn't find anything. When the owner wants to retire, many small MR businesses just disappear.

Are they the company that was selling Ed Fulasz buildings for a short time?

They did make the carbon black cars from the different eras though. I do remember seeing thier ad in or product review in MR some time ago cause I have two modern era crbon black cars from them. I will have to look at the boxes and directions to see what I can find tomorrow.

Rail Shops also made a composite HO scale kit for a Pennsy H30 covered hopper, with an injected-molded body and etched brass end ladders.
I had one a number of years back, but sold it when Broadway Limited Imports announced their ready-to-run model.

RailShop also sold the Eel River 61' "beer" PC&F RBL boxcars for a while. Don't know what happened to them.

There are three Rail Shop Inc. "Former EEL RIVER MODELS" cars on eBay currently (apparently for under their original MSRP). They are in the original boxes, and if the original instructions and paperwork are included (the listing does not show) they may contain information about the company.
Apparently they bought the Eel River Models tooling outright in 2008
