Searched the forums and came up with nothing relevant.

So, I would like info on oiling a steam locomotive, it's a Bachmann 0-6-0
I'm not exactly sure what model because I got it for Christmas.
It is used, and screeches when you run it. After two seconds of that I stopped it, and figured it needed to be oiled.
I did pick up some plastic compatible oil it's

Labelle 108 multipurpose oil (Plastic compatible)

Judging by the symptoms, I'd suggest putting a drop on each motor bearing - I've had similar problems which were solved by this. A dab of grease in the gearing would also help (if Bachmann didn't add this at the factory, they usually ship their locos with plenty of grease in the gearing). Hope this is of help!

I dont understand your reference to spam hammer.

I oil my engines by placing a drop, the smallest possible drop of lubricant on each of the bolts that holds the driving rods, then the axles and finally the worm gear and associated driveline.

I also use Labelle in two forms, light for plastic and slightly heavier for metal gears. Graphite goes into the kaydee coupler pockets.

I do the engines once a year.

Heres a tip. Use a plier to cru***he head of the spout of your oil to limit the flow.. Labelle 108 is very thin and you can easily drip too much out.
